Ski, Boarding & Other Winter Sports in Mont Tremblant

Mont Tremblant Ski Resort

The main attraction for skiers and boarders alike is of course Mont Tremblant and Vacation Tremblant is right on the doorstep of the mountain via the North Side ski lifts.

Skiing

Access to the Mountain of Mont Tremblant

The mountain has an elevation of 875 metres, with skiing and boarding on four faces. There are 94 runs (the longest of which is 6km) including 16 novice runs, 31 intermediate and miles of expert terrain. There is also a superb snow park with 18 acres of ramps, rails and jumps, plus the 130m Olympic calibre super-pipe.

The 13-lift state of the art system is designed to handle over 27,000 skiers per hour with the main Gondola, plus high-speed quads and magic carpets. There is snow from mid November to mid April, combining the natural snowfalls with 885 snow guns across the hill.

The mountain has several access points; the closest for Vacation Tremblant properties is the North side. The North Side of the mountain offers skiers and snowboarders some of the best riding conditions due to the minimal sun exposure and tons of natural snow.

Parking is also easier, yet you can ski the whole mountain from here, perhaps skiing down to the South Side and the resort for lunch. The North Side has a rental office, ski shop and quieter café.

The South Side is much busier but has a greater number of bars and shops. Ski schools and the kids club are also on this side of the mountain.

Ski and Equipment Rental in Tremblant

There are 10 rental centres across the mountain, which rent skis of various grades, plus boards. Most are around the South Side resort but there is a well-stocked rental centre on the North Side. There is also a rental centre called Daniel Lachange in Mont Tremblant village, with competitive rates and very helpful staff.

Ski School and Kindergarten in Tremblant

There is a very well regarded and extensive ski school programme run by Intrawest from the South Side of the mountain. The programme includes day lessons, weekend programmes and full ski weeks, plus private lessons and tailored lessons for the disabled skier. It is best to book well in advance to guarantee the timing and programme of your choice. Call 1 888 738 1777 for bookings. All details of the programmes and prices are on the Tremblant web site.

The ‘Kidz Club’ is a day care programme for 1 to 6 year old non-skiers. There are indoor and outdoor play areas, snacks, group activities and crafts supervised by qualified and experienced staff. The facility runs at weekends only from mid-November to mid-December but increases to 7 days a week from mid-December until the end of the season in mid-April.

Full details of staff ratios and the location on the South Side are on their web site, but you can get any questions answered and book places by calling 1 888 738 1777.

We have had young family members use the kindergarten and skiing programmes and we were very happy with the standards and care.

Mont Blanc Ski Resort

Again smaller than Mont Tremblant but more extensive and higher than Gray Rocks, Mont Blanc is also only 20 minutes away. Extensive details are given on their web site at http://www.skimontblanc.com/eng/home.php   .

This is the second highest peak in the region and has 40 trails, with a range of difficulty, a snow park and ski school. There is also a kids club for non-skiers.

It is very pleasant to ski, with a variety of terrain and has recently had some lift upgrades, two new beginner areas and improved road access from the Highway 117. It has a great reputation for being a family orientated resort.

Call 819 688 2444 or toll free on 1 800 567 6715 to contact the ski school, book or for further information.

Other Winter Activities in the Tremblant Area

A great feature of Mont Tremblant and the location of the chalets, is not just the skiing and boarding, but the huge variety of other winter activities you can enjoy in the area.

Spa Tremblant

A great favourite of several guests is Spa Scandinave, a great complex of different spa baths that can be enjoyed in winter as well as summer. We can recommend a winter's evening relaxing in the spa. Spa Scandinave is a 15 to 20 minute drive from the chalets.
